Gluten-free restaurants and bakeries in Marin County
The dedicated kitchens and clearly-labeled menus we would actually send a friend to in Marin.
This is not a list of every restaurant that will skip the bun if you ask. Flour Craft in San Anselmo and Mill Valley is a 100% gluten-free bakery. Flour Chylde in Novato is too. Copita in Sausalito prints gluten-free on the menu and makes their own corn tortillas. Those are the dedicated kitchens. The pizza spots below still handle wheat flour, so call ahead if you need it tight. None of this is medical advice.
Dedicated kitchens
San Anselmo
Flour Craft Bakery
Heather Hardcastle’s dedicated gluten-free bakery on San Anselmo Avenue. Bread, pastries, tartines, waffles. Always 100% gluten-free.
Mill Valley
Flour Craft Bakery
Same dedicated kitchen at the Lumber Yard. Same case, same tartines.
Novato
Flour Chylde
100% gluten-free bakery on Grant Avenue. Cakes, pies, bread, sandwiches. They still bake with dairy, eggs, nuts, soy, and corn, so ask if those matter.
Sausalito
Copita
Modern Mexican on Bridgeway. They print 100% gluten-free on the menus. House corn tortillas, tacos, ceviche.
Pizza (wheat is still in the room)
Ross
Tony Tutto Pizza
Vegetarian pizza shop. Their menu says gluten-free crust is available. Not a dedicated kitchen.
San Anselmo
Creekside Pizza & Taproom
They make a cracker-thin gluten-free crust. Wheat is still in the room.
San Rafael
Mulberry Street Pizza
A 10-inch gluten-free crust on their own menu. They say it plainly: flour dust in the air.
Restaurants that mark it
San Rafael
Lotus Cuisine of India
They bake gluten-free naan and a gluten-free samosa, and they say dishes can be made gluten-free if you ask. Shared kitchen.
Tiburon
Bungalow Kitchen
The dinner menu labels GF dishes and marks the fries GF/CC. That honesty is the point.
We left off bun swaps and crusts the kitchen will not stand behind. The pizza spots above still handle wheat. Call ahead if you need it tight.
