Tacos in Marin

The ones we would actually send you to, not a map of every taqueria in the county.

Cholita Linda in Mill Valley

Marin is not a taco town the way the Mission is, and that is fine. A handful of places do it well, from a gluten-free tequila bar to a decades-old lounge with a hot sauce wall. Here is where we would send a friend.

  1. Cholita Linda in Mill Valley

    Mill Valley

    Cholita Linda

Vanessa Chavez and Murat Sozeri started at the Jack London Square farmers market in 2008. Mill Valley is their first Marin kitchen, at Strawberry Village across from Tartine. Fish tacos, Cubanos, aguas frescas. Open 11 to 9 every day.

  2. Sausalito

    Copita

The tequila bar on Bridgeway. Everything is 100% gluten-free, including the house-made corn tortillas. Al pastor, carne asada, Baja-style cod. Reservations recommended.

  3. Mill Valley

    Joe's Taco Lounge

The local institution on Miller Avenue, with a wall of hot sauces and a case of aguas frescas. Fish tacos, burritos, tortas. Open early for breakfast.

  4. San Anselmo

    Taco Jane's

A neighborhood spot on Tamalpais Avenue with a full bar and a patio. Blue corn tortillas, organic greens, and a grilled snapper taco worth the drive. Lunch and dinner, seven days.
