Can I burn a fire in Marin today?

Two different answers. Spare the Air is your fireplace, wood stove, and wood fire pit. Campfires, debris piles, and red flag days are Marin County Fire and CAL FIRE. Don't mix them up. Check the official pages this morning. This page does not flip yes or no by hand.

   Check Spare the Air this morning

   BAAQMD posts the alert at baaqmd.gov/alertstatus. No cell guess, no handwritten Open/Closed. If you drive, look before you light anything.

2. Marin

   Fireplace, wood stove, fire pit

   On a Spare the Air Alert for fine particles, wood burning is illegal indoors and outdoors. Regulation 6-3. Fireplace, wood stove, pellet stove, outdoor wood fire pit. Call 1-877-4NO-BURN.

3. Marin

   Ozone days are not a burn ban

   Summer Spare the Air is usually ozone. Drive less. Stay inside if you are sensitive. That is not the same thing as a wood-burning ban. Read the alert. It will say which kind.

   A different check. Marin County Fire and CAL FIRE. Spare the Air does not answer a red flag, and a red flag does not answer Spare the Air. Debris pile burns need a fire permit when they are allowed at all.
