Lappert's was founded in 1983 by Walter Lappert, who created super-premium ice cream with 16-18% butterfat based on old family recipes from his European upbringing. Their signature Kauai Pie flavor combines Kona coffee ice cream with Hawaiian macadamia nuts, toasted coconut, and rich chocolate fudge. The mainland operation is now run by Walter's son Michael and makes all flavors at their Richmond, California facility.
