Insalata's is at 120 Sir Francis Drake Boulevard in San Anselmo, where Drake meets the Hub. Heidi Krahling opened it in 2001 after years at Stars, Bix, and the Lark Creek Inn. The menu is Mediterranean: lamb from local ranches, housemade pastas, salads that actually stand alone. The dining room faces the street through big windows, and there is a full bar. Reservations fill up, especially on weekends. Dinner Tuesday through Sunday, lunch Wednesday through Friday, weekend brunch.
